The Old Kent Road and Old Bermondsey Walk

guinness-trust-buildings-2We start at the only remaining medieval galleried London inn. We then follow the old horse drawn coach route out of London past Dickensian Borough towards the Old Kent Road. On the way we see something from the Great Train Robbery, and then it’s on to  famous old factories and pubs, a bit of Charlie Chaplin, Henry Cooper and Only Fools & Horses. Then we head further back into history – highwaymen, Henry V and Agincourt, before seeing the oldest working class houses in London. We wee the first ever pie & mash shop, still going strong today, an old church/graveyard combo, with an old mission attached. Then it’s into the old tanning area of warehouses and the leather, hide & wool exchange, Guinness buildings and a ragged school.
