Inspector Edmund Reid, Jack the Ripper, Leman Street police station, Matthew Macfadyen, Ripper Street, Whitechapel's H Division
I have just been doing some research for my Ripper Street walk (see http://www.londontownwalks.com) and found a mistake on Wikipedia (and subsequently all over the internet) about the real life character played by Matthew MacFadyen in the TV series Ripper Street. It states that he is buried in plot J of Herne Bay cemetery but someone has misread the letter. It’s actually plot S. (The burials in plot J predate Edmund’s).
These are the detectives of H Division. Guess which one is Reid.
The Ripper Street walk takes in Leman Street police station, the Brown Bear pub (still a pub today), the Leman Street Dispensary and many other streets and sites mentioned in the series. It also tells you about the real life Inspector Reid’s career in Whitechapel including his efforts to catch Jack the Ripper and his theory about who the killer was. And the walk features plenty of other Jack the Ripper history too.
